Carbs, Fiber & Added Sugar in gummies flavored with red cabbage juice.
365 gummy bears are on the higher side for carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are vital to health but this food appears to have too many carbs for its calorie level per serving. Our Food Coach system recommends about 15-20 grams of total carbohydrates per 100-125 per serving to maintain healthy blood sugars and a healthy weight on a general healthy diet. These gummies have about 27g o carbs per 110 calories. Here, you can see the comparison between the general recommended number and the content for these specific gummy bears.
These gummies are also low in fiber for their calories per serving. A diet rich in fiber is essential for keeping the digestive system healthy and to reduce the risk of heart problems, diabetes, and obesity. Food Coach recommends at least 1.4 grams of fiber, per 100-125 calories on a general healthy diet. These have no fiber.
Lastly, with most sweets these are high in added sugar. Added sugars are fine in moderation and should be enjoyed in a balanced diet. Chronic consumption of high sugar diet can lead to health problems such as, weight gain, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Our food coach recommends no more than 2.5 grams of added sugar, per 100-125 calories on a general healthy diet. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends no more than 10% of an adult’s calories should come from added sugars.
Please be aware that these gummies are not a great source of other nutrients. Make sure to have a balanced diet and consume a variety. This will better ensure you’re getting a plethora of vitamins and minerals from other healthy food sources. Vitamins and minerals that should be included in a balanced diet that are not found in these gummies are; calcium, vitamin D, iron and potassium.
