Nutrition Seminars and Workshops
We offer interactive seminar/workshop for you as an individual or in a group on various nutrition, health and wellness topics. These seminars can be 1 hour lunch and learn seminars or half a day to full day workshop tailored to meet your needs. All the information provided will be science and evidence based supported by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Video conferencing is also available through Skype for your convenience. Below is the list of some of our popular nutrition topics. Please let us know if you are interested in these or any other nutrition and health topic of your interest.
- Nutrition strategies to prevent from chronic illness Learning objective: This seminar will allow you to be in the control of your own diet. You will assess your current nutrition and eating habits and compare with 2010 dietary guidelines for Americans and My Plate. You will learn how and what to include in your diet to achieve optimum health and wellness. You will also be provided with one day of menu to meet your personal health needs.
- Nutrition secrets to weight loss and weight management (Two session class) Learning Objective: This popular seminar is given in two sessions. In this interactive seminar you will learn and recognize the root causes of being overweight or obese and how it affects your overall health and wellness. We will teach you how to eliminate or minimize those root causes and shed some extra pounds safely with some simple mindful eating behaviors. This class also includes some tips from a qualified personal trainer to provide you easy day to day exercise tips that can be performed at home. Nutrition label reading, menu planning, shopping and eating out tips will be discussed.
- Simple nutrition solutions to keep your blood glucose under control Learning Objective: This seminar is good for both diabetics and non-diabetics. Diabetics will learn how to keep blood sugar under control and non-diabetics will learn how to keep diabetes on the bay. In this interactive seminar you will learn and recognize the root causes of diabetes, its relationship with carbohydrates, fat and protein. You will also learn how different types of carbohydrates play a role in controlling or worsening your diabetes conditions.
- Vegetarian’s challenges Learning Objective: In this interactive seminar your will learn how to achieve optimum health and wellness through a vegetarian diet. Instructor will discuss different kinds of vegetarian diets and their health implications if not planned right. This class will help you how to plan a healthy and balanced vegetarian diet to avoid nutritional deficiencies to optimize your health and wellness. You will go home with a healthy vegetarian sample menu to use.
- Lipids at a glance Learning Objective: In this one hour interactive class instructor will teach nutrition aspects of keeping up with a good lipid profile to prevent coronary arteries diseases. Instructor will explain how to interpret lab values for cholesterol, LDL (low density lipoprotein cholesterol), HDL( high density lipoprotein cholesterol), triglycerides and their significance to the heart health. Dietary and life style interventions will be discussed to keep your lipid profile under control.
- Meals made easy (Two session class) This fun and learning seminar is designed to deliver useful and practical information that will increase your confidence to serve more home prepared meals in no time for your busy family. Registered dietitian will teach you the foods from all different food groups that should be a part of your daily diet. Easy menu planning, simple recipes and cooking essentials to get the nutrients your body needs will be discussed. Food safety expert tips will be given for your home kitchen including purchasing, storage and preparation guidelines, aimed to keep you and your family safe from food- born illness.
- Fabulous fibers for your Health Learning Objective: In this class you will learn different dietary fibers and their physiological roles in disease prevention to improve health and wellness. Instructor will clarify the different kinds of fibers, their food sources, properties, and their role in certain disease prevention such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancers.
- Functional foods to improve health and wellness In this interactive seminar you learn various functional foods and dietary supplements available in modern market and their physiological roles in disease prevention to improve health and wellness. We will clarify the difference between conventional functional foods and commercialized functional foods and how safe dietary use of these special foods can prevent from common illnesses like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc. and promote overall health and wellness.
Seminar fee:
Individual: $35 for 1 session class of 1 to 1.5 hours and $ 55 for two session class of 1 to 1.5 hours each scheduled in NutriPledge office.
Group discount: $ 25 each for a group of 4 or more for 1 session class and $ 45 each for a group of 4 or more scheduled in NutriPledge office.
Institutional discount: $15 per person for 1 to 1.5 hours of seminars for a group of 25 or more with a small travelling fee depending on the distance. 10% of the proceedings will be given back to the non-for profit organizations, Temples, Churches and others if applicable.
